2022 TCS London Marathon – A Memorable Day for the Team RSBC
October 6, 2022
On Sunday October 2nd 2022, 43 RSBC runners from the UK and overseas crossed the start line for the TCS London Marathon, the weather was perfect and the crowds were out in force lining the 26.2 route to the finish line on The Mall.
Full of emotions at the RSBC Cheer points
RSBC staff and volunteers were on cheer points at miles 18 and 23 to give their support to all the runners. It was great to see runners energized by the encouragement of their families and friends, especially at mile 23 when it gets tougher. The RSBC CEO, Sue Sharp, met them after the finish line at a reception near Westminster. A party atmosphere soon filled the venue.
Sharing one of our RSBC runner’s experience
For some it was their first marathon like Sharn, mother of Maya, a lovely little girl who was diagnosed as blind at just 10 weeks had this to say:
“Thank you so very much, and a massive thank you to all of your team for firstly accepting me into the marathon team, Kevin for his absolutely fantastic support over the past few months (and his excellent directional skills across London!!!), to all your employees who cheered their way along the cheer points, and last bit not least to you all- for always providing the absolute best support to us all as a family, especially Mandie, without who I honestly would not be where I am today without! Everything you guys achieve as a charity is incredible and I feel myself very very lucky to be a part of RSBC!!”
What our runners said
“Thanks again for all of the well-organised information and frequent communications. The after race meet-up was wonderful.” – Lisa
“Be sure to keep me in mind for next year …. Would be fun to run it in Spring at least once.” – Sean
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you for yesterday. I had a brilliant day.” – Ruby
“Loved it. Feel good today. A learn from me is…train, train, train. Great memory.” – Vince
