Here’s to 2025: a year of hope and possibility
Aspirations for 2025
As the new year dawns, many of us will find ourselves reflecting on what we’ve accomplished so far, and what the future holds. As RSBC’s CEO, it’s certainly something that I’ve been doing in recent days.
As I look ahead to the next 12 months, I feel so much hope for what this tremendous organisation can achieve. I see a community that’s growing more resilient, more connected, and more unstoppable with each passing year. And I’m endlessly inspired by the children, young people and families who remind us of all what’s possible when we believe in ourselves and in each other. Blind and partially sighted children are at the heart of all we do; hearing them voice their needs and desires with confidence and pride.
So, what are my aspirations for 2025?
- Quality access to VI (vision impairment) inclusive education
Every child deserves an education that inspires them and equips them to chase their dreams. This year, we’ll be working hard to ensure the tools, training, technology and support are in place for vision impaired children and young people to access the education they deserve. - More families and carers receiving the support they need
When a family feels supported, their child can achieve anything they want to. We know how vital it is for parents and caregivers to have the emotional wellbeing, and practical support they need. During 2025, we plan to scale up and expand our family support services so that we can help build resilience for more children, young people and families. - Easing the transition to adulthood
From navigating the classroom to stepping into the workplace, we want young people to feel confident and capable at every stage of their lives. This year, we’ll be supporting even more vision impaired young people to build their skills, plan for their future, and discover their potential. - Breaking down barriers
Society still has a long way to go in terms of understanding and inclusion in relation to the VI community. Through awareness campaigns, partnerships and advocacy, we’ll continue to challenge misconceptions and push for a world that celebrates the talents and capabilities of every individual. - The strength of community
Some of RSBC’s magic lies in the connections we help create across our community. In the coming year, we’ll focus on bringing more people together – parents, children, young people, partners, volunteers, funders, employers and supporters – so that they can share experiences, offer support and celebrate milestones. Because together, we’re stronger.
Here’s to a 2025 filled with courage, joy, and boundless possibilities. And thank you to everyone reading this for being part of this journey – because we can’t do it without you.
