Our free Accredited Activity Provider kitemark
The key to identifying trusted activity providers across England and Wales
What is the VI-friendly Accessible Activity Provider kitemark?
This kitemark was introduced by RSBC to recognise organisations across the UK that are committed to creating inclusive and accessible environments for people with vision impairments (VI). It shows that the provider has undergone specialist VI awareness training, has ensured that their facilities and activities accommodate those who are blind or partially sighted, and actively fosters an inclusive experience for all participants.
The VI-friendly and Accessible Activity Provider accreditation helps families and young people to find trusted providers who are dedicated to supporting the VI community through inclusive design and a real willingness to welcome VI children and young people.
Whether you’re a family looking for an accredited provider, or are a provider who’d like to become RSBC kitemark accredited, read on to find out more.

A mark of confidence for families
RSBC accredited providers commit to providing accessible and inclusive activities in a supportive environment. When an activity provider holds the VI-friendly and Accessible Activity Provider kitemark, it’s a sign that they’ll do their utmost to accommodate the specific needs of blind and partially sighted children.
As a young person or a family, you can feel more confident that they’ll have a clear understanding of how best to meet your needs because of the training that they’ve undertaken.

Setting the bar high for the activity sector
Through its RSBC kitemark, an activity provider showcases its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility and can set itself apart from its competitors. When your organisation becomes a welcoming space for children and young people with vision impairment because your activities are accessible to them, more families are attracted to your provision.
The VI-friendly accreditation also brings other organisation benefits, from helping your staff to develop through heightening their knowledge to improving overall service quality.

Step 1:
Complete our questionnaire. Please note, you’ll need to have all the actions your organisation has taken to hand, and know who the training has been shared with, prior to completing the survey.

Step 2:
Our specialist training team will assess your question responses, then contact you. They may ask for more information, or they may provide you with the kitemark and the terms for use. The kitemark is valid for 2 years, after which you will need to attend refresher training and again complete the questionnaire.

Step 3:
Once your kitemark accreditation is confirmed, we’ll provide you with a logo to share to let children and families know you’re an inclusive activity provider. RSBC will also list you on our website as a VI-friendly provider by region here. If your organisation is looking to apply for the Kitemark, you can begin the application process here.
