Meet Andy, RSBC runner and Stacey, mum of Teddy
Andy Godfrey is running the TCS 2023 London Marathon for RSBC to support blind and partially sighted children and their families. Stacey and her son Teddy who is vison impaired were his inspiration to join #TeamRSBC and take on 26.2 miles on April 23rd and raise funds for RSBC.
Andy met Stacey and her son Teddy through Boot Camp FM in Coventry who decided to take on the gruelling Wolf Run Challenge. Stacey contacted RSBC to say the team were going to raise funds for RSBC as she wanted to help other families living with sight loss. Not only did the team raise over £5,000 but Stacey also took to social media, contacted the Press and was interviewed on BBC CWR about their participation in the Wolf Run raising awareness about the challenges that vision impairment in childhood brings.
Boot Camp FM “Wolf Run” Team. Lower right Stacey and Teddy. Back row middle Andy.
On a cold October day, the team began the Wolf Run challenge wading through rivers, muddy quagmires and obstacles, it was not too dissimilar to training for the special forces! The team all completed the challenge, it was very tough, but they did it.
Andy has been training through the dark cold days of winter to be ready for London, it is not just the challenge of running the marathon course Andy has had to put in so much time to complete long runs building fitness and stamina. As well as training, time and effort needs to be put into fundraising to reach his £2,500 target which is enough money for RSBC to give support to a family living with sight loss for a year. RSBC offer a range of services that families can access expert family practitioners in particular are always on hand whenever needed to offer advice and practical support.
Andy will be running with 60 others in the RSBC London Marathon 2023 team on April 23rd, if you would like to support Andy and families living with sight loss like Stacey and Teddy you can make a donation here.
We cannot thank Andy and Stacey enough for all their fantastic support.
